Mapping Your Favorite Movie Locations

In movies, locations can become so iconic that they often take on a life of their own.  mapsales.com takes a look at some of the most recognizable movie locations in recent film history.

The Ghostbusters’ Fire House – New York City

In the 1984 film, Ghostbusters, the title characters find an old, derelict firehouse in Lower Manhattan that they eventually transform into their home base.  In reality, the Tribeca firehouse is still operational and has even made cameos in several other movies.

The Home Alone House – Illinois

The 1990 Christmas classic takes place in the imposing, 3-story McCallister home.  The house is located on Lincoln Street in Winnetka, Illinois, in a quaint, leafy, suburban neighborhood.

OCP Headquarters in Robocop – Dallas, Texas

In this 1980s sci-fi film, the mega corporation OCP is headquartered in futuristic Detroit.  The structure that served as OCP headquarters, however, is the Dallas City Hall building.  Construction crews added floors to the building to give it a more looming presence.

Shaun of the Dead’s Winchester Pub – London, UK

The Winchester Pub served as the ultimate hideout during a zombie invasion in this 2004 zombie-spoof film.  The real location, the Duke of Albany, was stripped down a few years ago, but fans of the film can still visit this location on Monson Road in London
